Songs Questions and Answers Live 2019
Midge Ure returns to the UK theatre circuit in early 2019 with a new show......well, almost new!
25 years ago, Midge presented a theatre show with a Q&A element to it....and the plan for 2019 is to revisit an updated version of the concept. “Songs and Stories” if you like. This time he’ll be playing with his multi instrumentalists Cole Stacey and Joe O'Keefe (who also open the show playing their own original material as India Electric Company).
There is plenty to talk about too while covering a 40 year professional career, Ultravox, Solo work, Band Aid, his Orchestrated CD from 2017 ...and anything YOU the audience can think of to ask him!
Midge will be performing songs from the Ultravox catalogue alongside his solo work and there will be an opportunity for suggestions from the crowd to pick a song for them to perform as well, so the show will be a selection of material that will satisfy the fans and please the curious...and it’s not often you get to suggest the play list !
All tour dates are in the "shows" section here and it is not planned to add any more shows to this tour so catch it while you can!
Live Orchestrated tracks on the BBC
Following Midge's performance last Saturday, 3 songs from the performance will be broadcast tomorrow (Sunday 16th Sep) on BBC 1 Northern Ireland and details of how to watch this for people in the rest of the UK are below.

Midge Ure to perform tracks from Orchestrated live at BBC Proms in the Park in Northern Ireland
BBC Proms in the Park in Northern Ireland has secured music legend Midge Ure, Broadway star Kim Criswell, classical guitar supremo Xuefei Yang and internationally acclaimed mandolin virtuoso Avi Avital for this year’s event in Belfast on Saturday 8 September.
Midge Ure has enjoyed massive success with bands such as Ultravox, Slik and Thin Lizzy. Alongside Bob Geldof he was the driving force behind the legendary Live Aid concert and Band Aid fundraising record. He will be flying in directly from the United States, where he is currently on tour.
For over four decades Broadway and West End star, Kim Criswell, from Chattanooga, Tennessee, has travelled the globe performing with some of the greatest orchestras of our time. She has sung at La Scala in Milan, the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall, London.
BBC Proms in the Park Northern Ireland will also feature sensational guitarist Xuefei Yang; internationally acclaimed mandolinist Avi Avital, who will be performing with renowned percussionist Ithamar Doari.
Also taking to the Proms stage will be Lurgan-born acclaimed classical-crossover Baritone Karl McGuckin; and the Ulster Youth Choir. The line-up is completed by an appearance from 10 members of the cast of Titanic Dance, the show which tells a heart-gripping love story as the ship makes its maiden voyage across the Atlantic.
The concert is BBC Northern Ireland’s biggest outside broadcast event of the year. It offers both home-grown and international talent performing alongside the Ulster Orchestra under the baton of David Brophy.
BBC Proms in the Park in Northern Ireland is now in its 17th year and is supported by Belfast City Council.
BBC Proms in the Park remains one of BBC Northern Ireland’s most ambitious, and popular outside broadcasts. Approximately 11,000 people are expected to attend the event at the Titanic Slipways, Belfast.
This concert will be part of broadcast celebrations to mark the Last Night of the Proms, and will link music-making festivities at London’s Royal Albert Hall with BBC events around the UK. The BBC Proms is the largest classical music festival in the world, with over 90 concerts across eight weeks from July 13 - September 8.
Viewers at home will be able to join in the excitement, with the BBC network television services linking with the Titanic Slipways, offering live coverage of key moments from the evening’s entertainment. Highlights programmes will be recorded for later transmission on BBC NI television, BBC Four and the BBC iPlayer. Selected extracts from the Titanic Slipways will also be available on BBC You Tube and the entire concert will also be broadcast live throughout the evening on BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle.
BBC Proms in the Park in Northern Ireland will be presented on stage by Noel Thompson and Claire McCollum. Extracts from the Belfast concert will be shown across the UK on BBC One and BBC Two on the night.
BBC Radio Ulster will also be live throughout the evening from the Titanic Slipways with presenter John Toal. Its coverage begins at 7.30pm.

Midge to perform with the Sinfonia Nord and Todmobil
Todmobile celebrates its 30th year with a celebration concert in Harpa on November 2nd. Todmobile’s special guest for this concert is Midge Ure, a singer and songwriter best known for his groundbreaking work with Ultravox. Also appearing is SinfoniaNord.
Todmobile released their first track in 1988. A year later their first album was released and now, thirty years later, they have released eight studio albums, a string of hit singles and have played countless concerts.
This is Todmobile’s fourth concert where they collaborate with their idols and main musical influences. This concert series started in 2013 when Jon Anderson of YES was their special guest. In 2015 Steve Hackett of Genesis played a concert with Todmobile and a year later Nik Kershaw took to the stage with the band. Midge recently released the album Orchestrated on which he performs most of his best known songs, accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
